BPEL Extension for People (BPEL4People)
BPEL focuses on business processes with interactions based on Web services, but business processes often have people participants requiring process and people interactions. BPEL4People extends BPEL to enable modeling of human interactions. It defines a People Activity which uses human tasks as an implementation, and allows specifying tasks local to a process or use tasks defined outside of the process definition.
